Kaiser Permanente Colorado.

Community sponsorship pitch for the Grandfriends Play Day pilot. Senior wellbeing alignment is exact. The Surgeon General named loneliness a public health crisis. Kaiser funds programs that move that metric.

Why this fits Rent-A-Theme

Senior wellbeing is the bullseye.

Senior wellbeing focusKaiser Permanente's community health priorities include healthy aging, isolation reduction, and community well-being. Grandfriends Play Days move these metrics directly.
Intergenerational programmingKaiser has historically funded programs that combat senior isolation. Eisner Foundation is the gold standard Kaiser is in the same conversation regionally.
Past R.A.T.E. activationsKaiser was referenced in the meeting transcript as a prior R.A.T.E. activation client. Warm relationship probable.
DBE-certified small businessKaiser community giving has BIPOC and DBE business partner priorities.
Two pathways with Kaiser. Sponsorship ($2.5K to $10K, faster, no nonprofit required) is the right starting point. The community benefit grant tier ($25K to $100K+) requires 501(c)(3) status pursue in year two via a fiscal sponsor partnership (see the Bessie's Hope outreach).

Kaiser x Rent-A-Theme: a Colorado intergenerational play program for senior wellbeing

Email body

Hi [Kaiser Contact First Name],

My name is Tonya Milligan. I run Rent-A-Theme Entertainment, a Colorado-based BIPOC and woman-owned small business. Before I started this company, I spent 17 years in education, including roles as enrichment director for Denver Public Schools and Cherry Creek. We have worked with Kaiser before on [reference past activation if Tonya can confirm specifics].

I am reaching out because Kaiser Permanente's community health priorities around healthy aging and isolation reduction line up exactly with the work we are launching this year, and I want to make sure Kaiser is in the room as we scale.

The program

Grandfriends Play Days. A class of 15 to 25 students visits a Colorado senior community for two hours of facilitated play across five accessible stations. Mobile mini golf with seated tees. Life-size board games for floor and chair players. Building challenges that mix hands. A story prompt corner where students hear what life was like 70 years ago from someone who lived it. A photo wall where every student-resident pair takes home a polaroid.

The program is designed for measurable outcomes: pre and post mood cards for residents, staff observation rubrics, student post-event cards. Every event produces a written case study with named quotes and outcome data within 10 business days.

Why I am writing now

We are running the formal pilot in [TARGET MONTH] and looking for one community sponsor to anchor the event. Kaiser Permanente is the most natural fit on our list. The program addresses senior isolation directly, which the U.S. Surgeon General named a public health crisis in 2023, and which Kaiser's community health work has prioritized for years.

What Kaiser would receive as the sponsor

  • Brand placement at every station and on every printed asset
  • 100+ photos and short video clips delivered within 14 days
  • A two-page case study with attendance, named quotes, and outcome data (mood lift, participation rate, repeat intent)
  • A finished sponsor packet ready for Kaiser's community health reporting and brand channels
  • Named association with the only intergenerational play program in Colorado

Investment

$2,500 to $10,000 depending on customization. The $2,500 base tier covers brand placement, photography, and the case study. Higher tiers add custom branded equipment and additional event support.

The bigger picture

The pilot becomes the proof point for a year-one rollout of 12 Grandfriends Play Days across Colorado, including communities Kaiser already serves. As the pilot anchor sponsor, Kaiser is in every case study, every grant attachment, and every senior living conversation we have for the next 12 months.

I would love 30 minutes on your calendar to walk through the program, the deliverables, and the sponsor levels. There are also a couple of larger pathways I would like your guidance on, including whether Kaiser's community benefit grant cycle could fit a multi-event partnership in the next fiscal year if we identify a 501(c)(3) partner organization.

Are you available [propose two specific 30-minute windows in the next 14 days]?

Thank you for considering this. I look forward to hearing back.

Following up on the Kaiser x Rent-A-Theme Grandfriends pilot

Body

Hi [Name],

Following up on my note from [date]. The pilot is on [date] at [senior community partner]. I wanted to share a quick fact pattern in case it helps your team make the call:

  • 25 to 50 senior residents engaged
  • 15 to 25 students from a Title I school (if relevant)
  • Outcome data captured: mood lift, participation rate, intergenerational connection
  • Case study and sponsor packet delivered within 10 business days

If now is not the right time for a sponsorship, I would still appreciate 15 minutes to introduce the program and ask for guidance on Kaiser's community benefit grant cycle. Open to a quick call here: calendar link.

Notes on Kaiser

  • Kaiser community giving and Kaiser community health are different teams with overlapping mandates. Sponsorship pitches typically go to community giving / community engagement. Health-funded grants go through community benefit. Ask which team is appropriate.
  • Kaiser values measurable outcomes. The impact framework (mood lift, participation, repeat intent) is exactly what they want to see.
  • Kaiser is highly aware of racial equity in community giving. Rent-A-Theme's BIPOC ownership is an asset.
